Ollie Wright and Hunter Morse made sure the first season for the Portland Hearts of Pine will last at least one more week.

Wright scored the only goal and Morse made nine saves to lift the Hearts of Pine to a 1-0 win over Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in a USL League One quarterfinal Saturday night in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

No. 7 Portland improves to 12-7-12 and will face the winner of Sunday’s match between No. 3 Spokane and No. 6 South Georgia in the semifinals. No. 2 Chattanooga ends the season 15-6-10.

Wright gave Portland a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute when he worked a give-and-go with Jake Keegan. Wright brought the ball into the box before making a short pass to Keegan, who quickly served it back. Wright ripped a shot into the lower right corner for his team-leading 10th goal of the season.

Morse was big throughout but made his best save in the 96th minute. With Chattanooga forcing the action, Aaron Lombardi played a ball into the box that Matthew Bailey got a head on. Morse dove to his right and batted away the shot that was headed to the lower left corner.

Chattanooga had an early opportunity when Pedro Hernandez fired a shot from the top of the box, but Morse dove to his right to make the save.

The Red Wolves had another chance in the 23rd minute when Omar Hernandez sent a cross from the left side that Greyson Mercer put a head on at the far post, but Morse stepped in to thwart the opportunity.

Mercer missed another golden opportunity in the second minute of the second half when he ran onto a service from Yanis Lelin but deflected it wide of the net.

He got another shot after Portland took the lead, heading a cross from Lombardi on goal, but Morse smothered it.

Omar Hernandez had another quality shot in the 44th minute, but Morse dove to his right again to make the save. Matthew Acosta had a bid in the 83rd minute, but Morse made his sixth save.

Portland created a chance when Michel Poon-Angeron gathered the ball just outside the box and chipped a hard shot into the upper left corner, but Red Wolves goalie Ricardo Jerez made a leaping save.

Portland lost to Chattanooga 2-1 on June 7 and played to a 1-1 tie with the Red Wolves on Sept. 13 at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Portland played both Spokane and South Georgia twice this season. They tied Spokane 1-1 in April on the road, then routed the Velocity 6-1 on Oct. 21 in front of a single-game USL League One record crowd at Fitzpatrick Stadium. They lost 2-1 at South Georgia on April 12, then tied the Tormenta 1-1 on July 6 at Fitzy.
