Are you better off today than you were a year ago? Is food more affordable, or do grocery prices still keep rising? Have your health insurance premiums gone down — or crept up yet again?

Is it easier to pay your rent or mortgage? Is your job secure, or are you quietly worried about what comes next? And perhaps most importantly, are you happier or more anxious than before?

These are the questions that matter — far more than campaign slogans, debates, or political ads. Before any politician tells you how wonderful things are or how terrible, take a moment to look at your own life.

Check your kitchen, your paycheck, your gas tank, your peace of mind. Look around your neighborhood and across your family’s table. Then ask yourself, honestly:

Are you better off than you were a year ago?
