U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner’s campaign has changed treasurers in the latest staffing shakeup to follow a pair of controversies last month.

The campaign filed a new statement of organization with federal campaign finance authorities Friday listing Ben Martello as its treasurer and custodian of records. Earlier paperwork filed Oct. 22 had named Victoria Perrone, president and founder of the firm Spruce Street Compliance, as filling those roles.

The change is the latest to come for the Democrat’s campaign after dozens of old Reddit posts were unearthed in which Platner said he was a communist, stated that “all cops are bastards” and said that white, rural Americans “actually are” racist and stupid. Platner also revealed last month that he had a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol called a Totenkopf. He has said that he didn’t know the meaning of the tattoo until recently, and has since had it covered.

Platner’s campaign did not respond to questions Monday about Perrone’s departure as treasurer and whether her firm is still involved in the campaign. Perrone, reached by phone Monday, declined to comment.

The change was first reported in a Substack newsletter, Judge Street Journal, which cited an anonymous source along with the campaign finance paperwork to report that Perrone had resigned and her firm would no longer handle compliance for the campaign.

Spruce Street Compliance, which has offices in Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, was brought on late last month after Platner’s Maine political director, Genevieve McDonald, resigned over the Reddit posts, according to past reporting in Politico. Platner has apologized for the posts and said they don’t represent who he is today.

A new campaign manager, Kevin Brown, was also brought on late last month but resigned after less than a week on the job, saying he was stepping away because he learned his wife was going to have a baby.

Ronald Holmes, Platner’s national finance director, resigned Friday, saying in a post on LinkedIn that his “professional standards” did not align with those of the campaign.

Platner is running for the Democratic nomination to take on U.S. Sen. Susan Collins for her seat next year. An oyster farmer and military veteran from Hancock County, he has no prior political experience but has been well-received and reported raising over $4 million as of early October.

Also running for the Democratic nomination are Gov. Janet Mills, former congressional staffer Jordan Wood and David Costello, who has held several government and related jobs.
