Gardiner residents have reelected Meaghan Carlson, 46, to the Gardiner-area school board.

Carlson beat Zachary Hanley, 47, earning 866 votes to Hanley’s 778 votes.

Carlson has served one term on the Gardiner area school board and ran for reelection to ensure that every child in the district can thrive.

Hanley cited his frustration in the lack of civility at school board meetings as a reason he decided to run.

Gardiner is the largest of the four communities that make up Maine School Administrative District 11. It has five seats on the 12-member board of directors.

The district’s other communities are Randolph, Pittston and West Gardiner.
