Most of the soccer and field hockey playoff games scheduled for Wednesday were postponed because of a forecast of inclement weather throughout the state, the Maine Principals’ Association announced Wednesday morning.

The games will be played Thursday at the same locations and times.

The affected contests are the field hockey regional finals at Yarmouth High School (South region) and Hampden Academy (North region), and all of the remaining boys and girls soccer regional finals: Class B South at McMann Field in Bath, B North at Cameron Stadium in Bangor, 8-person South at Gardiner Area High and 8-person North at Brewer High.

The Class D girls soccer semifinals at Presque Isle Middle School were not postponed. Fifth-seeded Monmouth faces top-seeded Ashland at 4 p.m. Wednesday, and No. 2 Penobscot Valley plays No. 3 Central Aroostook at 6:30 p.m. Those games were initially postponed, but that decision was later reversed after the involved schools expressed concerns about Thursday’s weather forecast for Presque Isle.

At Hampden Academy
C North: #1 Foxcroft vs. #3 MCI, 3:30 p.m.
B North: #1 Belfast vs. #3 Nokomis, 5:30 p.m.
