We are being told there’s a ceasefire in Gaza, but the facts tell a different story. According to The Guardian, Israel has violated the truce dozens of times, killing at least 38 Palestinians and wounding over 140. The Washington Post reports that the International Court of Justice found Israel failing to meet even the most basic obligations as an occupying power.

U.N. Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese has warned there are “reasonable grounds to believe genocide is occurring.” Yet U.S. leaders remain silent while weapons and aid continue to flow to the perpetrators.

This is not politics — it’s humanity. Maine taxpayers should not fund war crimes. I urge Sens. Collins and King, and Rep. Pingree, to demand a permanent ceasefire, suspend all military aid and support accountability for every violation of international law.

History is watching. Silence is complicity.
