A Rangeley man accused of running a marijuana and money laundering scheme had his bail revoked Friday after allegedly retrieving firearms and making threats while out on pretrial release on Halloween.

U.S. Magistrate Judge John C. Nivison found probable cause that Lucas Sirois violated his bail conditions on Oct. 31 while under indictment when he allegedly retrieved two firearms and ammunition from a Franklin County residence he owns.

Sirois allegedly made threats about several people involved in the larger case while speaking with a tenant who lives rent-free at the residence.

Nivison also found that Sirois violated other terms of his pretrial release, which include restrictions meant to protect the community and witnesses. He determined that no combination of conditions would reasonably ensure public safety and ordered Sirois to remain in custody pending trial.

Sirois was arrested Oct. 31 at a bar in Farmington after police said he retrieved firearms, ammunition and outdoor gear from his property. His attorneys said Sirois did not violate any release conditions because the firearms were personal property he was legally entitled to possess. They said he retrieved the rifles and equipment for deer hunting season which began the next day.

Sirois and several co-defendants face federal charges tied to an alleged marijuana cultivation and distribution operation and money laundering. The case involves a large-scale operation based in Franklin County.

Originally released on a $500,000 secured bond in 2021 after his first indictment, Sirois will remain in detention as federal proceedings move toward a Nov. 12 trial in federal court in Bangor. He pleaded not guilty to initial charges and to the superseding indictment charges in September.
