As a retired graphic artist, I’m at a loss to understand why you chose the image you used in the Our View editorial titled “Vote ‘No’ on Maine’s Question 1” (Sunday, Oct. 19).
Sure, use a ballot entering a box, But why have the text of the editorial on that ballot be nearly illegible? Already faint against a pale gray background, the words fade even more as increasingly important points are made.
The “continued” line is barely visible. If read, it leads to normal type that just happens to mention Question 1 “itself can be regarded as a bit of shady dealing.” Definitely shaded there on Page D1.
Please republish this critical editorial in a form that can actually be read.
