Jessie (Gagnon) Cobb
WEST GARDINER – Jessie (Gagnon) Cobb, 92, of West Gardiner, born Feb. 8, 1933, in Gardiner, daughter of Arthur and Louise Gagnon, died Nov. 5, 2025, at Avita of Stroudwater in Westbrook. She was a graduate of Gardiner High School.
Jessie spent most of her life living in Gardiner before later moving to West Gardiner. Among her jobs in Gardiner were: M.A.S.H. Doctors’ Office, Gardiner Hospital, bookkeeper at William S. Williams Construction Company, Key Bank.
She was a great loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren and supported them in all their countless activities.
She often spoke of visiting her son, David in California when he was stationed on the USS Enterprise and participated in a dependent’s cruise on the ship. She enjoyed traveling and made it to over 30 states.
She also traveled widely in Europe and Asia, often visiting her son, Brian when he was working overseas and visited over 20 countries, making lasting friendships in Germany and China.
She enjoyed bowling in her later years and participated in both candlepin and 10-pin bowling leagues where she made many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Alton H. Cobb, Jr. She was the youngest of seven children and was predeceased by her brothers Raymond, Edward, Joseph and Russell Gagnon along with sisters Ruth Weeks and Doris Connelly. She was also predeceased by her very good friend, Jane Dolan, of Randolph.
She was survived by her son David, his wife Melissa and their daughter Taylor of Randolph; and grandchildren Samuel Cobb and Charlie Seals. She was also survived by her son Brian of Scarborough. Additionally, she leaves behind her great lifelong friend, Maretta Guilmette of Pittson.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with services following at 3 p.m. at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. The burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Gardiner.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
