WATERVILLE − A Waterville woman died Wednesday after being struck by a pickup truck on Kennedy Memorial Drive, police said.
Kathleen Corridan, 74, was wearing dark clothing and trying to cross the four-lane road near the intersection of Brigham Street when the crash occurred, according to a release from Maj. Jason Longley, spokesman for the Waterville Police Department.
Longley said Corridan was not in a crosswalk and there was no traffic light where she was crossing from JFK Plaza. It is a heavily traveled section of Kennedy Memorial Drive.
Police officers responded around 4:38 p.m. to the crash, which involved a white GMC pickup truck traveling west on Kennedy Memorial Drive when the truck struck Corridan, Longley said in the release.
“Members of the Maine State Police are also actively involved in the investigation to include crash reconstruction and forensic mapping,” it says. “ (The driver of the truck) sustained no injuries in the crash, and there are no pending charges.”
