Anna Perna
MILFORD – Anna Perna passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2025, at home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer that she fought with faith, strength, and grace.
Anna was born in Augusta, to Isabel and Earl Bradbury, a former Commissioner of Fish and Game, and moved to Windsor when she was young. They spent countless days in various warden cabins across the state, eventually buying a retired warden cabin of her own, creating her own family retreat.
After graduating from Cony High School in 1968, she went on to study at the University of Maine, eventually earning a degree in education. Anna began her career at the Internal Revenue Service as a Taxpayer Service Representative, where she met her husband, John. She held this position until her retirement on April Fools’ Day 2010–a nod to her sense of humor. Following her retirement, she became involved with Penobscot Theater volunteering as an usher and hanging posters throughout the community. She enjoyed meeting and conversing with all she crossed paths with.
Anna enjoyed being outside and going for scenic rides across the state – she, John and her children would routinely “take a ride” on a nice day to The County taking in the beauty of the world. She loved traveling and took many cross-country road trips with her family–she could never pass by a photo op at any “large” roadside attraction. Anna enjoyed creating beautifully knitted socks and sweaters, cross stitch, and stained-glass pieces. Her baked goods, particularly pies and croissants, will be greatly missed. She also enjoyed reading and attending their monthly Audubon book club meetings.
Anna is survived by her husband John; daughter, Tess Collins of Windsor, son, Sol Collins of Eastport, daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Matt Peyton of Old Town; grandchildren Madeline and Lucy Collins, Wyatt and Evie Peyton; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Debra Bradbury; along with many nieces and nephews; and special friends Tom and Pat Hickey.
She was predeceased by her parents Earl and Isabel Bradbury; Sister Frances Gallant RSM–her aunt; and son, Michael Perna.
Anna was a lover of all holidays, particularly the Super Bowl as it often landed on her birthday. She requested to have an Irish wake with everyone sharing stories, laughing, and having a good time. A Wake will be held Super Bowl Sunday 2026 at a family residence.
Visiting hours will be held at Birmingham Funeral Home in Old Town on Nov. 22, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
