Last week’s elections give me hope that we may be able to leave the darkness of recent years behind. I am sad that Rep. Jared Golden feels that he has to quit because of threats.
Before Sen. Susan Collins’ last reelection I thought of starting an effort to get Stephen King to run. Now I want him to help us by running for Golden’s seat. I believe his health is not great, but with a very good staff and all the support of Mainers, I believe he can do it. Maybe think of it as our honor for him, being such a great part of Maine’s magic? Not a new career, just for a little while.
So, what about the rest of us? I actually think our guidance is pretty clear: Love thy neighbor; no exceptions. Simple, yes, but not always easy.
