Former gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler has been accused of violating the terms of his probation for a 2023 child pornography conviction by accessing sexually explicit content online and by possessing unmonitored devices, the Ellsworth American reported on Tuesday.

According to Hancock County Superior Court documents, a probation officer filed a motion to revoke Cutler’s probation, the report states.

Cutler pleaded guilty to possessing thousands of sexually explicit images of children in 2023 and was sentenced to nine months in jail. He was released two months early, in January 2024, for good behavior and has since been serving a six-year probation period.

An affidavit from the probation officer alleges that Cutler had visited a sexually explicit website on Sept. 8 and answered questions about his preferences in an escort, the Ellsworth American reported.

A probation summons also alleges that Cutler violated his probation by possessing and using unmonitored electronic devices to connect to the internet on Oct. 2, the report states.
