Stacy Nicole Godfrey

DANBURY, Conn. – Stacy Nicole Godfrey DVM, passed away Nov. 6, 2025, at the age of 44. Stacy was born August 3, 1981, in Nienburg Germany, to Mark V.R Godfrey and Debra (Lord) Godfrey n/k/a Mace.

Stacy spent her early life in Readfield, Maine, graduating from Maranacook Community High School class of 1999. She then graduated from Vermont Technical School with an Associate degree.

She worked for a time at the Animal Emergency Clinic in Lewiston and Turnner Animal Hospital as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. In true Stacy fashion she went back to college chasing her dream to become a veterinarian. She graduated from St. George’s University, Grenada, West Indies in 2015. Her clinical year was spent at Cornell University Hospital for Animals in Ithaca, NY. She then completed a small animal rotation at Carolina Veterinary Specialist in North Carolina. From there she completed a specialty internship in surgery at the Veterinary Orthopedic and Sport Medicine Group, Annapolis Junction, Md., followed by a second specialty internship with Newtown Veterinary Specialist. This was Stacy’s second home, not only for the animals she cared so much about, but for the friendships/associations she made with her coworkers. Stacy continued to work for NVS until she was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Stacy was predeceased by her father; grandparents, Elwin and Eleanor Godfrey, and Barbara Lord and Phil Morse.

She is survived by her mother Deb (Larry) Mace; her “seester” Morgan (Jason) Lancaster and sons Chad and Ryan; grandfather John Lord, and grandmother Elaine Morse; three brothers, Nicolas (Emily) Godfrey and daughter Elli, Christopher Godfrey and son Hunter, Benjamin Godfrey; stepmother Kathy Godfrey; as well as Sebastian Davis whom she treasured as a son and his mother Autumn Unck; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

We can’t write this and not mention Stacy’s bestie, her brother from another mother Adam Porter. You started out as co-workers, discovered you were both Maine natives. From there Porter you became her confidant, her sounding board; her home away from home. Thank you for loving her as much as we do!!

Stacy loved wholeheartedly, if she claimed you as friend/family just know you meant something special to her. Her love language was food. She enjoyed cooking for her people or sharing a meal out. She was all about creating memories with the ones she loved.

We want to thank everyone at NVS for supporting Stacy while she worked a job she absolutely loved, and for the love and kindness you showed her right up until the end.

Stacy was never one for a big show, she was like her grandmother, Barbara, in that regard. There will be no funeral service. We will honor the amazing person she was with a celebration of life in the spring; details will be announced at a later date.

We leave you with this one last message from Stacy. A sentiment often shared with her “Seester” and Mother. “I Love you in a circle, cause a circle never ends.”

We also want to thank the staff at Green Funeral Home, Danbury, Conn., for guiding us through this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers,

please pay it forward by making someone smile a smile as big as hers
