Cony/Gardiner/Hall-Dale: There’s a new Class A co-op in central Maine called the Capital Area Sturgeons, who will be led by first-year head coach Gabby Low, a former Cony assistant. The Cony girls were fourth at KVACs and ninth at the Class A championships last season. The Gardiner/Hall-Dale girls were third at the KVAC meet and sixth at the Class B state meet. The relay teams will be potent, with Addison Pollis, Emily Foster, Jessie Willey, Gudrun Ziemer, Emmalin Nichols and Fiona Breslin.
Erskine Academy: The Eagles are a young team with four freshmen and one senior on the eight-person roster. Junior Annabelle Fortier and senior Hannah Polley were key members of the relay teams last season. Emma Casey, a junior, also is back.
Messalonskee/Skowhegan/Nokomis/Lawrence: Coach Beth Prelgovisk has seen a decline in the co-op’s feeder program’s numbers, but she says this season’s upperclassmen-heavy roster (nine seniors) is excited to get back into the water. The girls placed third at KVACs and at the Class A state meet. Emma McDowell, Cailyn Henning, Hayden Averill and Chloe Masse are versatile senior leaders who can contribute points in different strokes.
Waterville/Winslow: This co-op finished fifth at KVACs and 18th at Class B states. A strong returning Winslow contingent that includes senior Bella Pinnette and sophomore Belen Farnham, both of whom qualified for states last year, should keep the co-op competitive as sophomores Eva Pinnette and Eva Nadeau continue gaining experience.
