The Bossov Ballet Theatre’s upcoming production of “The Nutcracker” is planned for Friday through Sunday at Waterville Opera House, 1 Common St. Waterville.

Performance times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The theater company’s annual production has become a tradition for the region, known for its clear classical Russian foundations and for the uncommon profile of its cast: high school
students who train at a professional level as part of their academic curriculum at Maine
Central Institute.

The Adam Ezra Group plans to take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Waldo Theatre, 916 Main St., Waldoboro.

The Americana songwriter and his bandmates have established a connection with their fans, selling out theaters throughout the Northeast.

Ezra began playing shows more than 20 years ago. When music venues wouldn’t hire him, he played bars, bookstores, fields and parking lots, often raising money for causes he cared about. The practice that grew into his nonprofit organization RallySound.  

These days you’ll find Ezra and his bandmates, Corinna Smith (fiddle), Poche Ponce (bass) and Alex Martin (percussion), constantly on the road.

Joy to the Ville

Joy to the Ville events are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Paul J. Schupf Art Center on Main Street and Waterville Public Library, 73 Elm St., Waterville.

Waterville Creates, the Colby College Museum of Art, the Waterville Public Library, and the Children’s Discovery Museum have planned movies, art making, play, Community Maker Days, and more. Kringlevill Santa visits are set for noon-4 p.m.

Christmas with The Celts

Waterville Opera House plans to present Christmas with The Celts at 7 p.m. Monday at Waterville Opera House, 1 Common St., Waterville.

The Irish musicians have united with the finest Nashville players to create a fresh hybrid of Irish Americana which combines their own rootsy originals and tight vocal harmonies with fiery Irish traditional instrumentals.

The Celts are award-winning lead singer/fiddler Maggie Lander; Ric Blair on vocals, guitar, piano, and bodhran; Patrick D’Arcy (U2, Sting, Josh Groban) from Dublin on pipes, whistle and mandolin; Fiachra O’Regan (Waterboys, Bill Whelan) from Connemara, Ireland on pipes and tenor banjo; and Matt Menefee (Bruce Hornsby, Mumford & Sons) on 5-string banjo/mandolin, dobro, and vocals.
