Dean Hotham
ALBION – Dean Hotham, 59, passed away from pancreatic cancer on Dec. 12, 2025. Born and raised in Albion, Dean was deeply rooted in his community and cherished lifelong friendships from his school days. Known for his spirited personality, he excelled in football at Lawrence High School, where he was a force to be reckoned with.
Dean was a logger by trade, getting up before the sun every day. He took great pride in his craft. He worked for many ‘good-old-boys’ before he founded his own business, Hotham Logging. He had an excellent reputation and built a beautiful home for his family in the town he loved. He was raised with the old-school values of hard work, respecting your elders and knowing you were only as good as your word.
Dean was a wonderful storyteller, had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was a big man with a big presence. He always reminded me that he loved the luckiest woman in Albion and after he passed, I realized exactly how true that statement was.
Dean had a need for speed with the ability to handle it, whether on his favorite Harley Davidson motorcycle or Arctic Cat snowmobiles. He loved hunting and liked to show his mounted deer heads and reminisce about each one. His garage was a man cave filled with stories, lights, and camaraderie. He always said old ladies, dogs and children loved him and I think that’s because they knew he had such a soft heart.
He was devoted to his family. He was immensely proud of his children, Axel and Lexi, and his grandson, Waylon. His joy grew as his children became adults, and he longed to watch his grandchild grow. Dean’s life was enriched by the family he was born into and the one he married into, bringing love, compassion and fun wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Hotham; children Axel Hotham (Dusty Peppard) and Alexandra “Lexi” Hotham; grandson Waylon Hotham; nephews Nick and Jed Hotham and nieces Desiree Spencer and Allie Hotham and many cherished relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Hotham; siblings, Butch Magee, Holly Hotham, Sheila Tuttle, Donald Hotham, Dwight Hotham, Jeep McGarey; and nephew Owen Hotham.
A special thanks to Kenny Foster, who was like a father to Dean, to Peter and Glen Fisher, uncles who became brothers, and Bubba, Darryl, Kelly, Barry, Chipper, Dean and all the Legion riders for their strong friendship.
A Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, from 2–4 p.m., at Somerset Valley Remembrance Center located at 19 Washburn Lane in Skowhegan.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring at the Winslow VFW; date and time to be announced.
