Earl O. Bickford
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Earl O. Bickford, 84, of Bridgewater, Mass., died on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Mass.
Born in Fairfield, Maine, he was the son of the late Earl and Bessie (Knox) Bickford. Earl grew up and attended public schools in Oakland, where he excelled in sports, and was a graduate of Oakland High School, Class of 1960. He lived with a strong Christian faith, was a “family-oriented” man, and was proud of supporting his young sons at their sporting events. For over 35 years, he worked for (GE) General Electric in Lynn, MA, retiring as a Construction Supervisor. In retirement, Earl loved woodworking, being outdoors and travelling; he travelled extensively around the United States. He cherished time spent with family and friends; when Earl would play games with anyone, such as cards or horseshoes, he was very competitive, and Earl played to win! He was loved and will be missed.
For 32 years, Earl was the beloved husband to Alice (McMullin) Bickford and also previously married to the late Linda (Clark) Bickford; loving father of Scott Bickford and his wife Susie of Windham, N.H., and Jeffrey Bickford and his wife Tina of West Newbury, Mass.; loving stepfather of Martin Halvorsen and his wife Diana of Mashpee, Mass., and Meg McDermott and her husband Stephen of Middleborough, Mass.; cherished grandfather of Andrew, Nathan, Caleb, Charlotte, Jocelyn and great-grandfather of Ella Rose; dear brother of Jack Bickford and his wife Dorothy of Maine and the late Neil Bickford, Janice Dorval and Elaine Collier. He is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation period at the Ashley~Drolette Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, Mass., on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
All are welcome to Earl’s funeral service at the Central Congregational Church, 2 Webster Street, Middleborough, Mass., on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, at 11 a.m.
Interment services will be private.
