Adrianna Smith’s layup with no time left lifted the UMaine women’s basketball team to a 59-57 win over Harvard on Sunday in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Smith finished with 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while teammate Asta Blauenfeldt added 13 points.
Smith’s free throw with 43 seconds left gave Maine (5-8) a 57-56 lead before Harvard tied the game on a free throw with 26 seconds left. As time expired, Smith converted a putback layup following a missed shot to give Maine the victory.
Abigail Wright scored 22 points for Harvard (6-6).
Men’s Basketball
DREXEL 74, MAINE 56: Victor Panov scored 19 points as Drexel (6-7) defeated Maine (1-13) in Philadelphia.
Panov was 5 for 9 from 3-point range and Drexel was 14 for 29 as a team.
The Black Bears jumped out to a 7-2 lead before the Dragons responded with an 11-1 run en route to a 37-28 halftime lead.
Mekhi Gray led Maine with 12 points on 6-for-7 shooting, while Logan Carey added 10 points.
