Stella Foy, Thornton Academy senior: The Varsity Maine Girls Golfer of the Year won the Class A girls state championship, shooting a 90 to prevail by one stroke. At the New England championship, she tied for 11th with a 79.
Joe Hansen, Greely senior: Hansen, a 2024 Class A co-champion, averaged a 36.9 in regular-season matches. He was a co-medalist at the SMAA qualifier with a 2-under 70 and finished in a three-way tie for second (75) at the Class A championship.
Dante Iannetta, Falmouth senior: Iannetta shared medalist honors (70) at the SMAA qualifier and then carded a 75 to tie for second at the Class A championship. He recorded a 79 at the New England championship.
Brett Kemper, Scarborough senior: Kemper placed fifth at the Class A championship with a 4-over 76. He was also the Red Storm’s low scorer at the SMAA qualifier with an 82.
Mick Madden, Cheverus senior: Madden, the Varsity Maine Boys Golfer of the Year, claimed the Class A title with a 1-over 73 , leading the Stags to their first team championship since 2005. He averaged a 36 over nine holes during the regular season.
Drew Mertzel, Winthrop freshman: Mertzel burst onto the scene, winning the Class C championship with a 3-over 75. He carried a 38.1 nine-hole scoring average for the season and shot a 76 at the New England championship.
Jack Quinn, Gardiner senior: Quinn finished the season in spectacular fashion, shooting 69 and earning co-medalist honors at the New England championship. He shot a 69 to win the KVAC qualifier and finished second in the Class B championship with a 77. He has committed to play golf at the University of Rhode Island.
Ryan Savona, Freeport junior: Savona finished third in the Class B championship, shooting a 4-over 76. He shot a 78 at the New England championship.
Sam Sirois, Cheverus freshman: Sirois helped the Stags win the Class A championship by shooting a 75 to finish in a three-way tie for second. He capped his season with an 80 at the New England championship.
SJ Welch, Nokomis senior: Welch captured the Class B state title with a 4-over 76, which helped the Warriors win the team championship. He finished the season with another 76 at the New England championship.
Coach of the Year
Matt Brown, Nokomis: Brown guided the Warriors to the Class B championship by two strokes over York. Nokomis also captured the KVAC Class B title, finishing 19 strokes ahead of Lincoln Academy.
