Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan has tapped one of its top executives as its new CEO.
Tiffany Comis, who was the chief operating officer, was named the hospital’s new chief executive officer, the hospital said in an announcement Friday.
Comis takes over for longtime CEO Richard “Dick” D. Willett, who stepped down after more than 34 years leading the hospital, the announcement said.
“Tiffany’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter in RFGH’s ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional, community-centered health care throughout Somerset County,” the hospital said in its announcement. “With more than two decades of service to RFGH, Tiffany’s professional journey reflects dedication, deep institutional knowledge, and a steadfast focus on patient-centered care.”
Comis, who holds master’s degrees in both nursing and business, began her career at the Skowhegan hospital as a staff nurse and later held positions including emergency department nurse manager, director of ambulatory services, chief nursing officer and chief operating officer, the hospital said.
She has also served on the Maine Hospital Association board of directors, the Organization of Maine Nurse Leaders executive board, and the Kennebec Valley Community College board of trustees.
Willett, the outgoing CEO, worked at the hospital for more than 50 years, according to Friday’s announcement. He started at the hospital in 1972 as director of pharmacy.
“Under Dick’s leadership, RFGH expanded and modernized its facilities and services while strengthening its commitment to personalized, community-focused care,” the hospital said. “On behalf of the entire RFGH community, we extend our deepest gratitude to Dick for his dedication, compassion, and leadership. His legacy will continue to guide and inspire us well into the future.”
Redington-Fairview is an independent community hospital, which opened in 1952.
The hospital is a 25-bed critical access facility, which provides health care for more than 30,000 people, largely residents of Somerset County.
Construction of a new medical office building on the Fairview Avenue side of the hospital has begun. The expansion project was estimated to cost $18 million, according to documents submitted to the town Planning Board in 2024. It was expected to be complete in early 2027, a hospital official told the board earlier this year.
