Janet Lee Caskin

LITCHFIELD – Janet Lee Caskin, 57, of Litchfield, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Born in Brockton, Mass., Janet was the daughter of the late Francis E. Boudreau and Dianna Lee (Pirkey) Tucker. From her earliest days, Janet had a gift for turning friends into family, a talent she perfected at Brockton High School, where lifelong bonds were formed—and lifelong laughter shared.

On May 6, 1990, she married her best friend, Patrick J. Caskin. Their marriage was a partnership full of love, adventure, and shared mischief, from road trips to quiet mornings watching the sunrise. Together they built a home full of laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion.

Janet spent most of her career in banking, eventually serving as branch manager at Down East Credit Union. She adored her colleagues and the “fun squad,” delighting in the camaraderie and playful shenanigans that made work a place of laughter as much as of responsibility.

Her energy and care extended far beyond her job. Janet was a dedicated rec ball coach, mentoring children in soccer, basketball, and softball—many of whom still remember her voice echoing, “Not the middle!” She became a second mother to countless kids in her life, guiding them, cheering them on, and offering the kind of support and encouragement that stayed with them long after the game was over. She was a mother figure to anyone lucky enough to be around her, always ready with a hug, a word of advice, or a listening ear.

At home, Janet delighted in making every gathering special. She loved hosting family events, cooking meals that became legendary (her Carbonara was particularly infamous for making everyone ask for seconds), and crafting traditions that brought everyone closer together. She also found joy in slowing down: early morning walks, capturing sunrises and landscapes in photos to share with loved ones, scrapbooking with her closest pals, traveling with Patrick, and spending summers at camp surrounded by her favorite people.

Janet is survived by her husband, Patrick Caskin Sr.; her twin daughters Katelyn Emily and Marrissa Anne Caskin, her son, Patrick John Caskin Jr. and his husband Anthony Caskin; her mother, Dianna L. Tucker; her sister, Carol and Fred Berry and their children, Frederick and Jessica; and her brother, Michael Boudreau and his children Melissa, Michael, Charlie, and Nicole.

She was predeceased by her sister, Toni “Mitzie” Eubank, and her brother, Charlie Boudreau.

Beneath her bright smile and playful spirit was a woman who made life richer for everyone she touched. She showed love in big ways and small: by hosting, cooking, laughing, cheering, mentoring, or simply being there when you needed her. Her energy, generosity, and joy will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Litchfield Plains Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Staples Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family by visiting http://www.StaplesFuneralHome.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Brain Tumor Association or Maine Special Olympics in her memory.
