Robert “Bob” Nickerson

BENTON – Robert “Bob” Nickerson, 64, passed away on Dec. 7, 2025, at Maine Medical in Portland. He fought the fight of a lifetime and when his fight was done, he quietly slipped away.

Bob was the oldest child of Richard and Clara Nickerson. He grew up in Fairfield, later moving to Benton where he remained until his death.

He loved trains and collected model trains. He could tell you anything about trains. He also loved WWI and WWII airplanes. With a quick glance he could tell you what they were and what they could do. He also enjoyed Nascar and football, mainly the Patriots. There wasn’t anything mechanical that he couldn’t operate or fix. He retired from Gerald McKenzie Inc where he was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic.

He is survived by his longtime love, Patricia Cole. They faced life as a team and were devoted to one another. He is also survived by stepsons Kyle, Damien, and Skyler (Taylor) Cole; grandson, Finnegan, granddaughter Oaklynn; siblings Ryan (Andrea) Nickerson, Rick (Connie) Nickerson, Sue (Gary) Nickerson, estranged sister, Laura; as well as many nieces, nephews; aunts, uncles; and cousins; and his McKenzie family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Clara; maternal and paternal grandparents; several aunts and uncles; several cousins; nephew Justin; and his best friend, John Cote.

Special thanks to Dawn DiBlasi for all that you do. To the doctors, wound team, PAs, PT (Jake), RNs, and CNAs of R3 at Maine Med, you all were wonderful and Bob loved you all. You became our friends, family, and confidants. You are all so loved and forever our angels.

A heartfelt special thanks to Bruce and Margie Davis for being there for us in so many ways. You made this time a little more bearable. We would be lost without you.

No funeral will be held per Bob’s request.
