Rowan Barry, Greely senior: Barry capped a strong senior season by sweeping the Western Maine Conference (18:21.00), Class B South (19:02.22) and Class B state titles (19:10.90). She won the state championship race by 19 seconds. She also finished 19th at the New England championships.
Laurel Driscoll, Scarborough senior: A repeat Varsity Maine All-State selection, Driscoll had a strong finish to her high school cross country career, finishing fourth at both the Class A South (19:09.20) and Class A state meet (19:29.88). Driscoll placed 21st (19:50.74) at the Festival of Champions.
Addison Elliott, Hampden Academy junior: Elliott’s performance this fall earned her a second straight nod as KVAC Class A Runner of the Year. A two-time Varsity Maine All-State selection, she won both the KVAC A (19:30.01) and Class A North (18:31.79) championships. She finished sixth (19:38.00) at the Class A state meet.
Bryanna Hagopian, Madison senior: The Mountain Valley Conference Runner of the Year swept her postseason meets, winning the MVC (20:09.60), Class C South (19:59.60) and Class C championships (19:36.05). She won the regional title by 38 seconds.
Karen Higgins, Lincoln Academy junior: The KVAC B Runner of the Year, Higgins finished second at both the Class B South (19:15.19) and Class B state meet (19:29.96). Higgins won the KVAC B title (19:22.5) by 1:14.
Lucy Huggett, Freeport senior: An All-State selection last year, Huggett was runner-up (18:30.00) to Rowan Barry at the Western Maine Conference championships. She went on to finish third at both the Class B South (19:32.85) and Class B state meet (19:38.06). Huggett finished 27th at the New England championships.
Georgia Moon, Falmouth junior: An All-State pick last season, Moon established herself as one of the top distance runners in the state. She finished second at the Festival of Champions (18:12.38), as well as the Class A South (18:50.57) and Class A state meet (19:13.77). She was the top Maine finisher at the New England championships, finishing 13th in 19:24.67.
Nora Schmidt, Portland freshman: The Varsity Maine Girls Runner of the Year, Schmidt made an immediate impact. She had her breakout performance at the Festival of Champions, winning in 17:47.78. She went on to win the Class A South (18:28.64) and Class A state titles (18:50.60), leading the Bulldogs to the team championship. Schmidt was named SMAA Runner of the Year.
Allie Schmitt, Cheverus junior: Schmitt established herself as one of the top runners in Class A. She finished third at both the Class A South (18:54.69) and Class A state meet (19:26.59). She placed 10th (19:08.47) at the Festival of Champions and fourth at the New England championships.
Clara White, Orono senior: White, a Varsity Maine All-State selection in 2023, had a strong end to her high school cross country career. She earned Penobscot Valley Conference Runner of the Year honors and cruised to PVC (19:07.77) and Class C North (19:01.78) titles. She was runner-up (19:42.70) at the Class C championships.
Coach of the Year
Frank Myatt, Portland: Myatt led the Bulldogs to their first Class A girls team title. Freshman phenom Nora Schmidt won individual, regional and state titles, and she had a great supporting cast, including junior Kate Morrison, freshman Lucy Harkness, and seniors Sylvie Holmes and Alice Anderson. Portland will have several returners entering the 2026 season, making the Bulldogs an immediate favorite to repeat.
