Georgette L. (Villeneuve) Brochu

AUGUSTA – Georgette L. (Villeneuve) Brochu, 86, passed away peacefully on Dec. 30, 2025, surrounded by her family. Georgette was born in St. Methode, QC, Canada on Jan. 31, 1939, the second eldest of 15 children to Francois and Cecile (Turcotte) Villeneuve.

She married Jean Denis Brochu on July 2, 1960, in Canada and moved to Maine that August.

Georgette worked at Hudson Paper (Statler Tissue), and Shaw’s as well as working alongside her husband on different projects he brought home. In her younger days, she enjoyed snowmobiling, dune buggying, and camping. She also loved going to the casino on her birthday. Coming from a large family, she loved having people around her and enjoyed spending time at the family camp in South China with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Although, her most cherished pastime of all was sitting around the table with family and friends laughing and playing cards. She had a competitive spirit and loved to win!

Georgette was a devout catholic, a sweet and caring lady that would often make you laugh with her Canadian accent, that she never quite lost.

She was predeceased by her parents; her son, Daniel Brochu; siblings, Simone McCutcheon and husband Roger, Maurice Villeneuve, Rita Verville, brother-in-law Denis Turgeon; and in-laws (Jean Denis’ family), Denise Poulin, Guy Brochu and wife Louiselle, Mike Roy, Gaetan Brochu, and Claude Brochu.

Georgette is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Jean Denis Brochu; children, Rachel Jones and husband George, Lise Barnes and husband Kenneth, Sandra Brochu and partner Brian Wotton, and Christina Brochu and fiancée Adam St. Onge; grandchildren, Jacob Jones and wife Tami, Joseph Jones and wife Latiscia, Amy Jones and fiancée Kobe Carrier, Ryan Barnes, Jason Barnes, Declan Wotton, and Dylan Tudeen and wife Sidney; great grandchildren, Gavin, Greyson, Landon, Asa, Daniel, Vincent and Jacoby; siblings, sister-in-law Francoise Villeneuve, Bertrand Villeneuve and wife Nicole, Carmen Roy and husband Gerard, Gerard (Joe) Villeneuve and wife Candide, Celine Turgeon, Jean Paul Villeneuve and wife Claudette, Jacinthe Huard and husband Renald, brother-in-law Normand Verville, Monique Rodrigue and husband Ronald, Helen St. Cyr and husband Claude, and France Thompson and husband Michel; and in-laws (Jean Denis’ family), Aurelle Poulin, Yolande Roy, Marie Boucher, Claudette Brochu, Robert Brochu and wife Marielle, and Rene Brochu and wife Joanne; and many nieces and nephews.

A period of visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330 and again on Monday, Jan. 12 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Following visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 41 Western Ave. in Augusta.
