In his Dec. 24 letter, Dr. Paul Cain, ex-president of the Maine Medical Association (MMA), tells us that a poll of said association members favors a health care system that provides “universal coverage.” Well said. Me too. I wish Dr. Cain had gone a step further and explained to readers that the “big boys” at the AMA do not favor a government-run single-payer system where all Americans are covered.
Can we see how members of Congress could latch onto this as another reason they don’t want to tackle this humanitarian problem, not to mention lose any campaign money from the for-profit health care industry.
By the way, Russia and all of the Western European countries have universal coverage for their citizens. Sadly, profits over people wins again.
