Liana Hartwell got off to a fast start with 12 points in the first quarter and finished with 25, leading Valley to a 73-21 win over Forest Hills in a Class S South girls basketball game Tuesday in Jackman.

Kirsten Bigelow and Delia Hill each added 15 points for the No. 1 team in the Class S South Heal point standings.

Forest Hills, ranked No. 2 in Class S South, got six points apiece from Kelsey Rancourt and Melynda Worster.

OAK HILL 51, WAYNFLETE 31: The Raiders (6-2) raced to a 33-11 halftime lead on their way to a win over the Flyers (2-5) in Wales.

Jillian Smith paced Oak Hill with 12 points. MacKenzee Wordwell finished with 10 and Skylar Vachon scored nine.

Paloma Cardona-Schair led Waynflete with 10 points, followed by Rachel Yordon with three 3-pointers.

CARRABEC 49, MADISON 44: Ava Welch scored 10 of her 23 points in the second quarter, and the Cobras (8-1) beat the Bulldogs (2-5) in Madison.

Ashlyn Courtney made three 3-pointers and added 11 points.

Dakota Estes scored nine points and Leah Harper had eight for Madison.

EDWARD LITTLE 80, MESSALONSKEE 52: Elizabeth Galway led the Red Eddies (9-1) with 17 points in a win over the Eagles (1-8) in Auburn.

Charlotte Ranger finished with 15 points and Xavi Hall scored 11.

Addie Hafford paced Messalonskee with 17 points, while Leah Adams had 14 and Rubee Stubbert ended up with 10.

MT. ABRAM 38, BUCKFIELD 30: The Roadrunners (7-2) outscored the Bucks (7-2) by a 15-4 margin in the fourth quarter to earn a win in Salem.

Stella Peterson led a balanced Mt. Abram attack with 11 points. Autumn Emery and Jenna Osgood each added eight.

Buckfield’s Chloee Bennett made five 3-pointers for 15 points.

LEAVITT 67, MT. BLUE 45: Gabby Smith’s 23 points propelled the Hornets (3-5) past the Cougars (0-8) in Farmington.

Nine of Smith’s points were free throws. Jordyn Boulay hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for Leavitt, while Elizabeth Kowalski added 12 points.

Mt. Blue was led by 14 points from Reese Nye and 10 from Gracelyn Noles.

WINTHROP 60, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 50: Evelyn Mortimer hit three 3-pointers and led the Ramblers (6-2) with 19 points in a win over the Seagulls (6-3) in Winthrop.

Kylee Mansir dropped in 12 points and Bella Baehr (three 3s) finished with 11.

Corinne Androkitis paced Old Orchard Beach with 15 points. Maegan Dow had 11.

BOYS BASKETBALL 

PINE TREE ACADEMY 100, RANGELEY 47: Collin Verrill scored 24 points as the Breakers (5-1) cruised to a win over the Lakers (1-8) in Rangeley. 

Benjamin Christman finished with 21 points on seven 3-pointers. Riomanel Soram chipped in 18 points, Rhett Tyson added 17 and Colby Solberg had 14. 

Kaleb Thompson scored 13, Kaysyn Woike tallied 12 and Sam Morrill had 10 for Rangeley.

ERSKINE ACADEMY 47, WINSLOW 37: Gavin Fanjoy paced the Eagles (7-2) with 19 points in a win over the Black Raiders (3-5) at South China.

Erskine led by four after three quarters and secured the victory by holding Winslow to three points in the fourth.

Jack Flaherty scored 15 points and Carter Calvo had 14 for Winslow.

OAK HILL 73, WAYNFLETE 65: Braden New scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half to lead the Raiders (4-4) past the Flyers (5-2) in Wales.

Isaac Galvez added 14 points, while Braden Dubuc had 13, PJ Smith 12 and Aiden Fortin 10 for Oak Hill, which trailed 33-30 at halftime.

JJ Carlo had 21 points, Jed Alsup added 20 and Mercy Nkulu finished with 13 for Waynflete.

VALLEY 90, FOREST HILLS 79: Five players scored in double figures as the Cavaliers (9-1) overcame a 43-point performance by Jaxson Desjardins to beat the Tigers (7-3) in Jackman.

Fisher Tewksbury scored 28 points and Harry Louis added 22 for Valley. Cameron Lay chipped in 15, Collin Nichols had 12 and Levi Short 10.

Desjardins, who made eight 3-pointers, also had seven assists and six rebounds. Aaden Nadeau added 18 points and Maddox Cuddy scored 12.

LEAVITT 54, MT. BLUE 40: The Hornets (6-3) held the Cougars (5-3) to two points in the first quarter on their way to a win in Turner.

Colin Schlobohm had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Leavitt. Jacob Gibbs also scored 14 and added seven rebounds and six assists. Brody Poland contributed 11 points for the Hornets, who led 14-2 after one quarter.

Oliver Cormier scored 17 points for Mt. Blue.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 52, WINTHROP 37: Trot Moody scored 23 points, Caleb Dupee made four 3-pointers, and the Seagulls (3-6) pulled away in the second half against the Ramblers (3-6) in Old Orchard Beach.

Dupee finished with 14 points for the Seagulls, who outscored Winthrop 29-15 in the second half after leading by one at halftime.

Graham Huri paced Winthrop with 15 points.

MARANACOOK 76, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 54: The Black Bears (7-3) jumped out to a 14-point lead after the first quarter and beat the Falcons (2-5) in Rumford.

Grady Hreben scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half for Maranacook. Gage Mattson added 14 and Alex Labelle chipped in 10.

Dylan Theriault hit six 3-pointers and netted 22 points for Mountain Valley.

BOYS HOCKEY

HAMPDEN CO-OP 2, MESSALONSKEE 1: Brody Miller scored the overtime winner and assisted on Henry Armell’s second-period tally as Hampden/Ellsworth/MDI/Nokomis (4-2) defeated Messalonskee (4-2) at Sawyer Arena in Bangor.

Christian Salvadori scored in the opening period for Messalonskee, and Eagles goalie Nathan Kirk made 30 saves.

Broncos goalie Aiden Surran stopped 37 shots.

GIRLS HOCKEY

YARMOUTH/FREEPORT 6, WINSLOW CO-OP 0: Maya Nasveschuk recorded a hat trick and an assist, leading the Clippers (11-1-1) to a win over Winslow/Gardiner/Cony/Lawrence/Messalonskee/Maranacook/Erskine (3-6-1) at Travis Roy Arena in Yarmouth.

Erica O’Connor and Dylan McElhinney each notched a goal and an assist. Celia Zinman also scored, and Lydia Costa earned the shutout by making 14 saves.

Emma Jean stopped 46 saves for the Black Tigers.
