Cheverus and Mt. Ararat have continued to win and therefore continue to be ranked at the top of the Varsity Maine girls basketball poll. As has been the case in all three polls this winter, the Stags are No. 1 and the Eagles No. 2.

Cheverus has garnered seven first-place votes in each poll this season, while Mt. Ararat received two for the second straight poll after getting one in the first poll.

South Portland moved up two spots to No. 3, Edward Little two spots to fifth and Gray-New Gloucester two spots to seventh. Sanford, meanwhile, maintained its hold on to the No. 4 ranking.

Biddeford, Gardiner and Bangor are back in the rankings, while Oceanside makes its first appearance of the season.

The Varsity Maine girls basketball poll is based on games played before Jan. 6, 2026. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
