Corporate officials from Dunkin’ have confirmed the closure of a Lewiston facility that has served as the largest bakery and delivery contractor for dozens of franchises in central and southern Maine since 2001.

A spokesman said the franchises who contracted with Mid Maine CPL are being serviced by other facilities.

“There’s been no disruption to service to those locations,” he said.

The Sun Journal reported Wednesday that Mid Maine CPL, at 20 Forrestal St., was closed Dec. 29, 2025. Dunkin said Thursday that the company, which serviced around 110 stores, had 65 employees, all of whom were laid off.

The spokesman also said any laid-off employees were encouraged to apply to Dunkin’ locations in Lewiston, Auburn, Portland and Augusta, many owned by The Wolak Group based in Falmouth.

The letter given to employees Dec. 29 does not mention Dunkin’, but states, “your connection to our organization is truly valued and we hope you can transition to one of our other locations in the Lewiston, Auburn, Portland or Augusta area.”

Most Dunkin’ franchises use what’s known as a centralized manufacturing location to bake and deliver doughnuts, bagels and muffins. The large off-site bakeries are operated by a contractor, and products are delivered to franchises overnight or in the early morning.

Some Dunkin’ stores still have the ability to make baked goods on-site and others use frozen products that don’t require baking. There is a centralized manufacturing location, or CML, contractor in Hermon that services Dunkin’ franchises north of Bangor and another in Amherst, Massachusetts, which is roughly 200 miles from Lewiston and 170 miles from Portland.
