A 27-point performance from TJ Biel wasn’t enough Thursday night for the UMaine men’s basketball team, which lost 69-62 to UMBC in Baltimore, Maryland.

Four players scored in double figures for the Retrievers (8-6, 1-0 America East), led by Jah’Likai King with 15 points. Ace Valentine scored 14, Caden Diggs had 13 and Riley Jacobs finished with 10.

Biel, in addition to his career high point total, had 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Ryan Mabrey (10 points) was the only other Black Bear in double figures.

Maine dropped to 2-15 overall, 0-2 in the conference.
