The recent exposure of the corruption in Minnesota by immigrants from Somalia has shown how a feckless media, in league with corrupt politicians, can result in the bilking of billions of taxpayer dollars.
In Maine, a similar situation exists. It is important to our country for the media to shed their political bias and exert courage in the face of power at the highest levels of government. Otherwise our media is nothing more than a Pravda-like sycophantic propaganda machine.
Sadly, I keep looking for headlines investigating the corruption in Lewiston and, alas, that reporting has been bereft of any and all information on this corruption (“Republican lawmakers call for accountability after MaineCare provider accused of fraud,” Dec. 30). Be better, be courageous. Stand for something.
