Adrianna Smith scored 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lift the University of Maine women’s basketball team to an 86-66 win over the New Jersey Institute of Technology in an America East women’s basketball on Saturday in Orono.
Smith added eight assists for Maine (8-9, 3-1 America East). Sarah Talon had 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Black Bears, who have won two straight.
Smith had 14 points and 10 rebounds in the first half as the Black Bears jumped out to an 11-point lead. NJIT (11-6, 2-2) pulled within one with six minutes left in the third, but Asta Blauenfeldt scored 10 points in the next 1:50 as Maine started to pull away. Blauenfeldt finished with 18 points.
Alejandra Zuniga scored 22 points, Marissa Gingrich had 14 and Olivia Kulyk 11 for NJIT.
