Providence College scored two goals in the third period to complete a weekend sweep of the University of Maine men’s hockey team with a 3-0 win on Saturday in Providence, Rhode Island.
The 18th-ranked Friars (11-7-2, 6-3-1 Hockey East) took a 1-0 lead with a short-handed goal in the second period by Tanner Adams. Aleksi Kivioja made it 2-0 early in the third and Andrew Centrella scored a power-play goal later in the period.
Mathis Rousseau stopped 29 shots for 12th-ranked Maine (12-9-2, 6-7). Jack Parsons made 20 saves for Providence.
