Louis E. Charrier III
CORNVILLE – Louis E. Charrier III, 69, passed away Thursday Jan. 1, 2026, peacefully at his home in Cornville with his family by his side. Louis was born in Skowhegan on March 10, 1956. He was the son of Verletta R. (Pinkham) and Louis E. Charrier II.
Louis was married to Sherry (Lesperance) for 36 years until her passing in April 2024. Sherry brought two daughters into his life which he helped raise and eventually three grandchildren which he was a big influence in their lives. They traveled to numerous places, took many cruises and enjoyed their camp on Brassua Lake.
Louis loved his high school carpentry classes which led him into an apprenticeship program with Local 320 after he graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1974. After several years of traveling to various construction jobs through Local 320 which included building the Sappi paper machines, Louis was recruited and hired by Sappi in 1986. He thoroughly loved his job as a Millwright, often talking about the camaraderie and lifetime friendships built while working there 32 years, retiring in 2018. There have been many positive comments on Louis’s strong work ethics, dependability and knowledge of his position.
While in high school Louis loved playing football for all four years. His father often told the story of Louis barely making the team due to being only one hundred pounds as a freshman, his dad asked him if he put rocks in his pockets to make the weight required. Due to Louis’s hard work, growth and tenacity he was named All Conference Defensive End in his senior year.
Louis was also an avid hunter and fisherman like his father. He looked forward to all his trips and spending time with relatives and friends over the years and filling his freezer full of wild game. He was a long-time member of the Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge #2531. When he lost Sherry after taking excellent care of her for many years, he became involved with helping his sister Sheryl with the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, cooking on the grill and anything needed. Louis was always willing to lend a hand to any friend or relative when needed.
He was predeceased by his wife Sherry; his parents Verletta and Louis Charrier; an infant sister, Anita; all of his grandparents; brothers-in- law Wallace E. Kipp and Winton T. Keene; and a special friend and mentor Charles M. Johnson, along with many close relatives.
Louis leaves behind his daughters BillieJo Senecal and her husband Michael and Jessica Bishop Nadeau; grandchildren Gage Peterson (Laurel), Jordan Lewis (Ailstair), Amy Clukey (Jared) and several other grandchildren from Billie Jo and Michael. There are 17 great grandchildren that will also miss their Papa.
He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Sheryl Keene, Annette Flannery (Les) and Darrin Charrier and several nieces and nephews. Louis also had numerous close friends and cousins that he considered as his brothers and sisters.
A celebration of his life will be held June 27, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge #2531, Silver Street, Skowhegan, Maine.
