Dawn Braley
WATERVILLE – Dawn Braley, 63, passed away at home after a brief illness on Jan. 4, 2026, with her beloved dog, Jada, by her side. She was born on Oct. 17, 1962, in Waterville, the daughter of James and Claire (Hagerty) McGowan.
Dawn graduated from Waterville High School in 1981. Dawn had been employed at Zayres Department Store and various nursing homes, before ending her time in the workforce at Johnny’s Selected Seeds. She enjoyed the time she spent at her job and the people she worked with, particularly her dear friend Judy Maheu, whom she met while working there. Dawn loved spending time with her son Matt and dog Jada, who she loved more than anything. They were her world.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sister Alicia Price, her brother John, and her boyfriend David Crowell.
She is survived by her son Matthew Buiniskas of Waterville; her grandchildren Jackson Buiniskas and Jaelynn Sweet; sisters Laurie Tuck and husband Mark of Dexter, and Bernie Osterby and wife Sandra of Hermon; and her nieces and nephews, Michael, Sarah, Eric, Emily, Jennifer, and Nicholas; grandnieces and nephews, Hunter, Sydney, Laine, and Ian; and great-grandnieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close friend Judy Maheu.
In accordance with Dawn’s wishes, there will not be a funeral or any services.
