Jacob Linkletter’s 20-point, seven-rebound performance led Madison to a 78-64 victory over Oak Hill in a Mountain Valley Conference boys basketball matchup Wednesday in Madison.
Three other Madison players scored in double figures: Finn Haynie (17), Silas Haynie (15) and Davyn Nichols (13). Linkletter, Finn Haynie and Nichols each hit three 3-pointers.
Madison (9-4) is ranked No. 2 in the Class D South Heal point standings.
Braden New scored 29 points and PJ Smith added 10 for Oak Hill (7-6), which is sixth in Class C South.
VALLEY 73, RICHMOND 44: Fisher Tewksbury poured in 36 points as the Cavaliers (12-2) defeated the Bobcats (1-12) in Richmond.
Harry Louis chipped in with 12 points and Cameron Lay scored 10.
Zaden Steele led Richmond with 12 points and six assists.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
VALLEY 72, RICHMOND 20: The Cavaliers (13-1) built a 32-0 lead after one quarter, paced by 16 points from Kristen Bigelow, on their way to a win over the Bobcats (2-11) in Richmond.
Bigelow finished with 19 points, Rylee Clark added 10, and nine other players scored for Valley.
Kaelyn Brillant led Richmond with nine points.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 42, HALL-DALE 26: Madison Blanchard paced the Falcons (4-9) with 18 points and Maddy Brown scored 14 in a victory over the Bulldogs (2-11) in Rumford.
Sierra Gibbons dropped in 15 points for Hall-Dale.
DIRIGO 55, WINTHROP 43: Abby Luczynski scored 35 points as the Cougars boosted their Class C South tournament hopes with a win over the Ramblers at Winthrop.
Luczynski made five 3-pointers. She had 19 points at halftime, then added 10 in the third quarter as the Cougars stretched a 27-24 lead to 46-34.
Dirigo (6-6) entered the game holding the 10th and final playoff spot in the Class C South Heal point standings. Winthrop (7-6) was ranked sixth.
Grace Folsom (19 points), Evelyn Mortimer (17) and Kylee Savage (12) provided the bulk of the offense for Winthrop.
OAK HILL 49, MADISON 42: Jillian Smith’s 13 points led the Raiders (9-4) in a grind-it-out win over the Bulldogs (7-7) in Wales.
Oak Hill outscored Madison by one point in each of the first three quarters to take a 32-29 lead into the fourth. The Raiders added to their advantage by making 8 of 12 free throws in the final period.
Brennah McLehaney contributed nine points for Oak Hill, while Madalyn Sikora scored eight and Mackenzee Wardwell seven.
Leah Harper was Madison’s top scorer with eight points, and Dakota Estes and Ava Landry each had seven.
MARANACOOK 79, LISBON 20: Alice Ferran had a double-double with 16 points and 12 steals, and she pulled down seven rebounds for the Black Bears (12-3) in their win over the Greyhounds (2-11) in Lisbon.
Celia Bergdahl scored 20 points, while Jackie Clark added 14 points for Maranacook.
Hannah Perron led Lisbon with 12 points.
MONMOUTH ACADEMY 43, BOOTHBAY 37: Kaitlyn Frost dropped in 25 points to propel the Mustangs (6-6) to a Class D South victory over the Seahawks (5-8) in Monmouth.
Maeve Burgess added seven points for Monmouth.
Tatum French was Boothbay’s top scorer with 16 points, and Eleanor Erwin finished with nine.
