I am just giving my response to the presence of ICE officials here in Maine. I, for one, say: let them do their job and be done with it.
If an IRS official comes to my door with tax questions — and I have paid my taxes and have nothing to hide — I’ve got nothing to fear. The same applies for ICE or any other federal agency that has questions. Somalians who aren’t doing anything wrong should also have nothing to worry about.
Protesters should go home and stop being a nuisance and a hindrance to ICE officials, who are just trying to do their job. If people have an opinion, they should write it in the newspaper — but stay off the streets! They are causing more harm than good.
Let me say it again. Let ICE do its job.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
