Lorraine Clarice (Huff) Hoskins

SKOWHEGAN – It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved loving mom, sister, and gram, Lorraine C. Huff, who passed away on Jan. 17, 2026, surrounded by her children.

Lorraine Clarice (Huff) Hoskins was born on Nov. 29, 1937, in Brighton, to Vernal and Jennie (Brown) Huff. She was educated in the West Athens grammar schools and graduated from Skowhegan High School.

On March 13, 1954, Lorraine married Frank H. Hoskins. Together they lived most of their lives in Skowhegan, Maine, where they raised their four children.

Lorraine is survived by her children: Vaughn H. Hoskins and his partner Darlene of Port St. Lucie, Florida; Jennie M. Hoskins of Auburn; and Christie L. Hoskins Zartman and her husband Duane of Clinton. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Lorraine is also survived by her brothers Hartley Nickerson and his wife Beverly of Skowhegan, and Michael Huff and his wife Cindy of Athens. She is survived by her sisters Donna (Huff) McCarty and her husband LeRoy of Solon; Janet (Nickerson) Martin of Skowhegan; Sherry (Huff) Erving of Harmony; Edwina (Huff) Cleveland and her husband Keith of Skowhegan; Karla (Huff) Bussell and her husband Lewis of Athens; and her sister-in-law Juanita Nickerson of Skowhegan.

She was predeceased by her husband Frank; her parents and stepmother, Marjorie Huff; her son Lewis F. Hoskins and his wife Michelle; daughter-in-law Lynne Hoskins; her brothers Gary Huff and Arnold Nickerson; her sisters, Joyce (Huff) Whitney, Patricia (Nickerson) Ripple, and Dolores (Huff) Marques; and her great grandchildren Aiden Gachette and Aniyah L. Libby.

Lorraine was a hard worker throughout her life and was employed at Norrwock Shoe and Dexter Shoe until her retirement.

She greatly enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. A wonderful cook, Lorraine was always making everyone their favorite dish or dessert. She also enjoyed camping and snow sledding with family, gardening, crocheting, and attending country dances with friends.

A service, followed by a celebration of Lorraine’s life, will be held on Jan. 31, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Somerset Valley Remembrance Center, located at 19 Washburn Lane, Skowhegan.

A private committal service will be held at a later date at Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan.
