Beverly Jane (Kaherl) Pelletier
WATERVILLE – Beverly Jane (Kaherl) Pelletier, 78, of Canaan, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, peacefully with her family by her side at Lakewood Healthcare Center after courageously living with dementia for seven years.
Beverly was born on March 12, 1947, in Augusta, to Everett B. and Elizabeth L. (Garland) Kaherl. She attended Winslow High School and graduated in 1965.
Beverly worked as a legal secretary for most of her adult life, many years with Wheeler and Arey Law Firm in Waterville, until her retirement. She and her husband, Walter, then fulfilled a lifelong dream of spending their winters in Florida side by side.
Beverly lived a life defined by kindness, devotion to family and unwavering strength in life especially in the face of profound loss including three of her children and her beloved husband. She was an avid reader and could often be found with a book in hand wherever she was and had a love for bird watching, the color pink, sparkly Sketchers sneakers, and the scent of lilacs. She cherished countless summer weekends camping in Maine with lifelong friends, her favorite campgrounds being Lobster Buoy and Happy Horseshoe. She was especially joyed when she was able to bring her grandchildren along. She also loved snowmobiling with Walter and spent many cold winter weeks in Northern Maine and Canada with dear friends. Above all, Beverly’s greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with Walter by her side.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Walter T Pelletier, with whom she shared 48 wonderful years before his passing four years ago. Beverly was also predeceased by her parents, her son David J. Patnaude, stepson Thomas W. Pelletier, stepdaughter Lori A. Pelletier, and her sisters Roberta Veilleux and Rebecca Green.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Patnaude) Herceg and husband Vance of Fairfield; son Richard Patnaude of Sabattus, and stepdaughter Lynne Pelletier of Bushnell, Florida; her grandchildren Thomas Pelletier, Jennifer Patnaude, Michael Hopkins, Walter Bell, Jessica Dyer, Erica Patnaude, Mikayla Maheu and David Pullen and 14 great-grandchildren. Beverly is also survived by her siblings, Everett Kaherl, Bruce Kaherl, Theresa Pearson, Ervine Mushero, nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
A spring burial at Maplewood Cemetery, Fairfield, is planned for family and friends to gather to share one final goodbye to a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and friend.
The family extends a heartful thank you to Northern Light Continuing Care Lakewood and Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care over the past year.
From Beverly’s own writing, “We cannot see beyond, but this I know – I loved you all so much, it was heaven here with you.”
