The Maine Mariners took a two-goal lead in the first period and rolled to a 7-1 win over Trois-Rivieres in an ECHL game on Saturday in Portland.
Brooklyn Kalmikov gave Maine a 1-0 lead, and Andrew Nielson scored his fifth goal in the last six games later in the period. Jacob Paquette pulled the Lions within one early in the second, but Jacob Hudson and Xander Lamppa stretched Maine’s lead to three.
Jacob Perrault and Linus Hemstrom scored in the third period for the Mainers.
Brad Arvanitis stopped 30 shots to earn his sixth win of the season. Benjamin Gaudreau made 20 saves for Trois-Rivieres.
