I am getting tired of two phrases being used by and about the Trump administration. The first phrase is “weaponizing the Department of Justice.” Remember when Trump accused the Biden administration of “weaponizing the DOJ” against him, especially concerning the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol? I would think that any rational human being would try to correct that behavior after they were elected.
But no, Trump continues to “weaponize the DOJ” every time someone disagrees with him. Every day there is a new investigation against some political opponent. It is hard to believe that the DOJ has enough lawyers to keep up with every investigation. Also, how much are these investigations costing the American public? I doubt anyone in this administration is keeping track of expenses.
The second phrase is ”no one is above the law.” We hear this every day from the attorney general, Homeland Security secretary, the director of the FBI and the White House press secretary. Isn’t it ironic that “no one is above the law” except Donald Trump? He got the Supreme Court to grant him total immunity as president. This ruling eventually led to absolving him of crimes committed before he was president. How can anyone believe that “no one is above the law” when it does not apply to every person in this country?
I look forward to a day when Americans can have rational and bipartisan discussions and when the legal system is not abused as much as it is today.
