Maine Central Institute pulled ahead in the third quarter and held on to defeat Waterville 30-27 in a girls basketball contest Tuesday in Waterville.

The Huskies outscored the Purple Panthers 18-6 to build a 26-16 lead.

Bella Barkac-Girroir paced MCI (3-13) with 10 points, while Lucia Wilson added six.

Madison Gervais scored 10 points and Hailey Snipe had eight for Waterville (2-13), which outscored the Huskies 11-4 in the final quarter.

MARANACOOK 58, MADISON 27: The Black Bears (14-3) outscored the Bulldogs (8-7) by 19 points in the third quarter to pull away for a win in Madison.

Alice Ferran led Maranacook with 20 points, while Celia Bergdahl had 13 and Cooper Davis 10. The Black Bears scored 20 in the third quarter while limiting the Bulldogs to one point.

Leah Harper and Ava Landry both had six points for Madison.

TEMPLE ACADEMY 46, RICHMOND 29: Three of the four players who scored for the Bereans (8-6) finished in double digits, leading Temple to a win over the Bobcats (2-13) in Richmond.

Amaya Thomas recorded 17 points, Maddie Corey scored 12 and Sofia Isgro finished with 10. Eliana Frank rounded out the Bereans’ scoring with seven points.

Mora Griffin led Richmond with 10 points.

OAK HILL 47, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 41: Jillian Smith’s 20 points led the Raiders (10-5) past the Mustangs (6-8) in Monmouth.

Grace Lough scored 11 points and Mackenzee Wardwell finished with 10 for Oak Hill, which jumped out to a 20-11 lead after one quarter.

Kaitlyn Frost scored 20 points for Monmouth.

TUESDAY’S BOYS BASKETBALL

ERSKINE ACADEMY 54, MOUNT VIEW 46: Gavin Fanjoy sparked a third-quarter surge by scoring eight of his 17 points as the Eagles (12-3) defeated the Mustangs (10-6) in South China.

Erskine erased a 25-22 halftime deficit, outscoring Mount View 20-8 in the third quarter.

Dom Brann scored 16 points, Wyatt Michaud had 10 and Jack Coutts added nine for the Eagles.

The Mustangs were paced by Ethan Cunningham with 15 points, Stuart Knowlton with 14 and Wyatt Bennett with nine.

RICHMOND 59, TEMPLE ACADEMY 38: David Edwards put up 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Bobcats (2-13) past the Bereans (4-12) in Richmond.

Jimmy Hathorne added nine points for Richmond, which made 13 of its 16 free-throw attempts. Edwards shot 6 for 6, Kingston Lavallee 3 for 3 and Hathorne was 3 for 4 at the foul line.

Ten players scored for Temple, led by Sam Frank and Timeo Lepaix with 10 points each.

WATERVILLE 39, MCI 35: Jakobe Gagne’s 11 points paced the Purple Panthers (3-12) to a win over the Huskies (4-11) in Pittsfield.

Derek Couture and Jacoby Sirois added eight points apiece.

Caleb Rush led MCI with nine points.

GARDINER 58, LEAVITT 40: Trace Moody scored 25 points and the Tigers (13-2) cruised past the Hornets (10-5) in Turner.

Brady Atwater added nine points for Gardiner, which outscored Leavitt 37-18 over the second and third quarters.

Jacob Gibbs and Colin Schlobohm both scored 13 points and Darren Flagg had 11 for Leavitt.

BOYS HOCKEY

SCARBOROUGH 5, BANGOR CO-OP 1: Nick Harmon scored twice, Preston Sullivan added a goal and an assist, and the Red Storm (7-2-1) defeated Bangor/Brewer/Skowhegan/Narraguagus (5-5-1) at Sawyer Arena in Bangor.

Tyler Grousse and Jonathan Mirehouse also scored, and Landen Baratta had two assists.

Zac Cota scored for the Titans.
