MERCER – Charles “Woody” Corson, 64, of Mercer, Maine, passed away on Jan. 13, 2026, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 12, 1961, in Waterville Maine, the son of James and Marilyn (Hagerman) Corson. He spent many of his childhood years at the family farm in Mercer. He was supposed to graduate from Skowhegan Area High School in 1980 but he dropped out to work and make money for his family. Then returned to get his GED in 2002 so he could graduate before his kids did. He enjoyed spending his time with his family. He also enjoyed spending his time going to the car races at Unity Raceway, Oxford Plains and Speedway 95.

He met Lori Ann Leavitt in February 1983, then got happily married on Nov. 12, 1983, and resided in Mercer until his death in 2026. Through the years he worked for Miller industries and Ayer electronics before becoming disabled in 1997. His other passions were being a member of the Norridgewock Fire department and working at Dave’s Service which was operated by the fire chief.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lori Corson of Mercer; son, James Corson and wife Hillary Corson of Mercer, daughter Sophia Corson and partner Katelynn, ex son-in-law Liam Corson and partner Fin of Smithfield; grandson, Zachary Corson-Giroux of Mercer; special grandchildren also include Matthew, Damien, LA-Kiesha, Keelin and Katherine; his sister, Kathy Corson of Rome; niece, Heather Tibbetts of Mercer; great niece Courtney Ferrara of Mercer; nephew BJ Tibbetts and wife Amy Tibbetts of Mercer; great nephew, Colby Tibbetts; great niece, Kaylee Tibbetts of Mercer; his brother in-law Steven Perrault of Mercer; nephew Joseph Perrault of Mercer; great niece MaKayla Perrault and great nephew Ryan Mullen; mother and father-in-law Galen and Ervena Leavitt of Palmyra; and two sisters-in-law Lisa Pease and husband Sam Pease, as well at their kids Hannah and Nicholas Pease; Sonja Pease and husband Jay Pease and their kids Sarah Laroche and family, Amanda Lombard and family.

He was predeceased by his father James Corson, mother Marilyn Corson and sister Janet Perrault

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Mercer Community Center, Corner of Beech Hill Road and Route 2 in Mercer. There will be a burial announced in the spring at the East Mercer Cemetery on Route 2.
