AUGUSTA – Edward W.
Albert, 83, of Augusta, passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2026, at the Maine Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Togus Springs.

Ed was born on Oct. 31, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pa. He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959 and served honorably until December 1962.

In 1974, Ed moved to Maine where he was employed by New England Telephone for 24 years, retiring in 1991. After retirement, Ed continued working in various roles, including 13 years as a driving school instructor. Though not Maine-born, he was fondly known as “one of those people from away.”

Ed enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. Music was also an important part of his life, especially songs from the 1950s through the mid-1960s, which brought him comfort and joy.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Helen Albert; and by his brothers George and Jack Albert.

Ed is survived by his wife, Roberta Albert; his stepson, Fred Brewer and his wife, Susan; his grandsons Ryan and Andrew; his niece, Patricia Albert; extended family members Tom and Sandra Trafton, and Joseph and Louise Burns.

Goodbye to all…

The family extends sincere thanks to the Togus VA Medical Center at Togus Springs and its staff for the compassionate care provided.

At Ed’s request, there will be no services. A private family burial will take place at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer’s Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared at http://www.plummerfh.com.
