For the fourth week in a row, the Varsity Maine girls hockey poll remains unchanged. From No. 1 through No. 5, it’s the same teams in the same order. This is the fifth consecutive poll made up of these five programs. In fact, this week there is nothing is different — even the points received by each team are the same as last week: the Edward Little co-op is still the unanimous No. 1 with 45 points, Yarmouth/Freeport still has 35 points, and so on.
So this hasn’t been the most eventful poll, but potential for chaos remains.
The regular season ends Saturday, and all five teams face at least one other squad in the top five, most notably Edward Little hosting the third-ranked Cheverus co-op on Wednesday. Edward Little also faces Brunswick on Thursday. Yarmouth/Freeport plays Brunswick on Saturday, Cheverus battles the Biddeford co-op on Saturday.
While Brunswick has a a few opportunities to pick up a bunch of Heal points, a pair of teams just outside the rankings, the Gorham co-op and the Penobscot Pioneers, have the chance to earn their ways into the poll. Gorham plays Edward Little on Saturday, and Penobscot meets Cheverus on Thursday.
The Varsity Maine girls hockey poll is based on games played before Jan. 27, 2026. The top five teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
