The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information in a shooting incident last Friday evening at a Farmingdale apartment complex.

Sheriff’s deputies responded Friday night with Maine State Police to 60 Hasson St.  , where they found shell casings but no vehicles or people of interest, Chief Deputy Chris Read said in a news release Thursday.

The sheriff’s office released security camera footage Thursday showing three people running through the apartment complex’s parking lot, with two repeatedly firing pistols toward the building. At least eight gunshots can be heard in the recording.

But the sheriff’s office has yet to receive any complaints from residents of the complex about being shot at, Read said.

“This leads us to believe that the potential victim and suspect(s) in this case do not want law enforcement involvement as there was more likely than not, illegal activity taking place at this residence,” Read said in the news release. “This type of violent act presents a significant public safety threat that cannot be tolerated.”

In an email Monday, Read said witnesses at the scene said they saw a car leave the area, but that their descriptions of the car were different.

The Hallowell Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle of interest in the shooting later Friday evening, which Read said had three individuals inside. A Connecticut man was arrested on Maine Drug Enforcement Agency warrants and an Augusta man was arrested on other warrants, Hallowell police Chief Chris Giles said. The two were transported to Kennebec County Jail, Giles said, where the sheriff’s department began an investigation into the shooting.

The sheriff’s office has yet to file charges related to the shooting on those two individuals or any others.

“60 Hasson Street is a large apartment building with many tenants, where children can be seen playing outside during the summer months,” Read said in the Thursday news release. “The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office is seeking any information in reference to this shooting as we would like to put an end to this type of criminal behavior.”

Read asked anyone with information about the shooting incident to call Detective Sgt. Scott Mills at 207-623-3614, extension 1021.
