Arthur D. LaChance
ST. ALBANS – Arthur D. LaChance, 91, a loving husband, father, pepere, and grampy, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 27, 2026, in Portland.
Arthur was born on the family farm on Oct. 23, 1934, in Benton, the son of the late Patrick and Ludivine (Gagnon) LaChance. He was a hardworking dairy farmer for many years in Benton. He enjoyed 2-mile walks, auctions, restoring farm equipment and vegetable gardening. He loved tractors, especially John Deere. He served the Lord Jesus as his Savior, was a faithful witness of God’s love to everyone he met, and a member of the Church of Faith in Skowhegan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Geraldine “Gerri” LaChance; his children, Debbie Whitney and husband Ron, Donald LaChance and wife Rosean, and Hope Lord and partner Tony Flye, stepchildren, Kevin Lasselle and wife Carlene, Paul Lasselle, Gregory Lasselle and wife Liz, and Lisa Wing and husband Tim; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Jackie Plourde, sister-in-law, Beverly Perkins, brother-in-law, Joseph Getchell and wife Kathy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, (infant) Rosan, Patricia Reny, Eddie LaChance, Larry LaChance, Cleo Fortin, and Dot Reny; and grandchildren, Rachel Whitney, Nate Whitney, and Greg Lasselle.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Church of Faith, 798 Canaan Rd., Skowhegan. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 16, at the Benton Falls Cemetery, 1121 Clinton Ave., Benton.
