Levi Laverdiere scored all of his 19 points in the middle two quarters as Monmouth Academy pulled away for a 70-43 win over Telstar in a Class D South boys basketball game Saturday in Bethel.

Laverdiere sank three 3-pointers in the second quarter as Monmouth outscored Telstar 25-16 to take a 36-27 halftime lead. He added two more 3s in the third, helping the Mustangs (11-5) stretch their advantage to 58-39.

Gavin Parsons chipped in with 15 points and Tyler Day scored 14.

Jonathan Marshall led Telstar (6-12) with 17 points. Connor Deprey made four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 65, MOUNT VIEW 52: Lily Bellerose scored 13 points in the first quarter, starting the Phoenix (15-1) on their way to a win over the Mustangs (8-9) at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington.

Bellerose finished with 23 points, Maddie Grimaldi added 18 and Natasha McDonald had 13 for Spruce Mountain, which led 24-11 after one quarter and 42-21 at halftime.

Madison Bennett led Mount View with 17 points. Emily Richards scored 11.

MT. ABRAM 63, DIRIGO 48: Jenna Osgood scored 19 of her 25 points in the first half, leading the Roadrunners (15-3) past the Cougars (8-8) in Dixfield.

Abby McCarty chipped in with 15 points and Stella Peterson scored 12.

Abigail Luczynski paced Dirigo with 12 points. Madison Bradeen and Keira Reny both finished with nine.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 46, MADISON 32: Kaitlyn Frost’s 24 points led the Mustangs (8-8) to a win over the Bulldogs (8-9) in Madison.

Mave Burgess chipped in with nine points. Monmouth jumped out to a 21-6 halftime lead.

Dakota Estes scored 10 points for Madison.

BOYS HOCKEY

MESSALONSKEE 3, JOHN BAPST CO-OP 2: Christian Salvadori scored his second goal of the game in overtime to give the Eagles (11-2) a victory over John Bapst/Hermon/Bangor Christian/Deer Isle-Stonington (7-5) at Sawyer Arena in Bangor.

Goals by Salvadori and Alex Beckwith staked Messalonskee to a 2-0 lead in the first period.

Kyle Griffin and Sam Churchard answered in the second period.

Nathan Kirk turned aside 15 shots for the Eagles, while Camden Leighton made 33 saves for the John Bapst co-op.

GIRLS HOCKEY

YORK CO-OP 4, LEWISTON CO-OP 1: Phebe Schroeck and Cheyanne Deeney each netted two goals for York/Traip/Marshwood/Noble (5-13) in a win over Lewiston/Lisbon/Monmouth/Morse/Mt. Ararat/Oak Hill (2-16) at The Colisee in Lewiston.
Schroeck added two assists and Hadley Larson recorded three assists.

Emma Berube scored for the Blue Devils.
