I would like to have someone who supports the MAGA agenda explain to me what is the difference between masked ICE agents arresting non-citizens off the streets and putting them in detention centers without due process and the Gestapo in the 1930s arresting Jews off the streets and putting them into concentration camps? In both cases, these populations had been allowed to grow and flourish for years until a failing government needed to find an easy excuse for its own ineptitude by demonizing a group and blaming them for their countries’ failures.
By the end of the horrible devastations of World War II, we learned to never let this happen again. Even now, decades later, after the end of World War II, we are still cranking out new movies and books about the diabolical rise of the Third Reich and their misguided belief that they could own the world. I’ve actually heard people say that Hitler wasn’t so bad; look, he built a great highway system. Maybe he did, but Eisenhower also built our great interstate highway system and he did it without killing 6 million Jews.
We need to stop this now before it’s too late.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
