Gary A. Snowden
BELMONT – Gary A. Snowden, 84, passed away Feb. 2, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born Oct. 15, 1941, in Harmony, son of Anson and Eleanor (Daggett) Snowden. On May 14, 1966, he married Sandra (Richardson) Snowden who was the love of his life. They were married for 59 years enjoying each momentous milestone in their life together, including the births of their two children and three grandchildren.
Gary stayed in Harmony through his primary school days participating as a Boy Scout, playing on Little League baseball teams, as well as Harmony Baseball and Basketball Teams. He graduated from Harmony High School in 1959. After attending Skowhegan Business School and working several jobs he became the Patient Accounts Manager for Redington Fairview General Hospital, where he worked for 28 years before retiring in 2004.
Gary was a member of Belfast United Methodist Church and was very active with the Methodist Church through the years, serving as Lay Leader in Skowhegan, District Lay Leader for Central District in Maine and Lay Leader for the Maine Annual Conference; as well as many committees within the churches that he attended.
Gary enjoyed many hunting and fishing adventures with his son, his brothers, and his friends. His passion during his retirement was playing golf, where he was fortunate to shoot five holes in one. Gary enjoyed singing and had many opportunities to do so whether participating in a choir, both in Maine and Florida, or playing the guitar and singing at local nursing homes. Gary and Sandra did a lot of travelling with their camper to various places in Canada and the United States, east of the Mississippi River. They were blessed to spend 17 winters in Florida until the year 2020.
Gary had a wonderful sense of humor that he shared with everyone he met. His mischievously teasing personality brought much laughter and joy to those around him. As much as he loved to joke around, his loving heart always shone through. Gary was a faith-filled man whose love of Christ was clearly evident to everyone he met. He walked the Christian walk with perseverance, faithfulness, and joy.
He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Snowden of Belmont; his children and their spouses, Boyd (Tracy) Snowden of Sidney and Pamela (John) Lynam of Belmont; three grandchildren, Brady Snowden, Hannah Lynam (fiance Daniel LaChance), and Payton Snowden; two brothers, Gregory (Val) Snowden of Harmony, Brent (Becky) Snowden of Canaan; and several nieces and nephews.
